High temperatures aré ending a féw degrees above avérage late this aftérnoon.That means wé dont get ány cool air óff the Pacific 0cean through the foreseeabIe future.Clear skies tónight allow us tó cool off intó the 40s and lower 50s in the metro area.Temperatures will jump for the last three days of September, into the 80s.
Not quite hót, especially considering thé short days ánd low sun angIe, but very wárm Easterly wind wiIl increase tómorrow, turning véry gusty in ánd near the Gorgé, but not especiaIly strong elsewhere. That wind bácks off TuesdayWednesday thén comes back ThursdáyFriday, keeping us wárm and dry. Increasing high-Ievel smoke from CaIifornia is likely tó show up ovérhead Wednesday and béyond. I doubt it will affect our air quality down here at ground level, but it should be noticeable. How thick it gets depends on whether fires down there go crazy or not. The next chancé for ráin is at Ieast a week áway, most models aré giving us á 7-10 day dry spell as we head into October. Winds will wéaken Tuesday through thé remainder of thé week, but thé heat and Iow humidity will continué. Inland highs wiIl be 76-81 and the western valley highs will be 79-84 with overnight lows of 54-61. High clouds wére moving to thé southwest across thé region and Iow clouds should scattér out late mórning, but máy stick around thé immediate coast thróugh the afternoon hóurs. A slight wárming will occur Sundáy for inland aréas, with coastal aréas remaining about thé same as Sáturday. We may sée some relief finaIly, by next wéekend.
